Do I need to be fasting?
Usually not. If the ultrasound is combined with other procedures, you will receive individual instructions.
Does the ultrasound reliably detect diastasis and hernias?
In most cases, yes—especially when examined both at rest and with abdominal muscle activation. The doctor may recommend additional methods if appropriate.
Is the examination painful?
No, you will only feel the cold gel and slight pressure from the probe. Sensitivity may be increased in areas with recent scars.
When will I get the results?
Usually immediately after the examination, along with recommendations for further management.
Can it assess the condition after surgery with a mesh?
Yes, ultrasound helps evaluate scar healing, any surrounding changes, and the condition of the soft tissues. The doctor will determine the appropriate timing post-surgery.
